Dr. Khurrum Qadir Director

My official duties and personal interest both lead me to historical research. As a medievalist, my studies focus on the Sultanate of Delhi (Muslim rule in South Asia 1200-1400 AD) and as a student of "Historic Patterns of Urbanization" I am concerned with town planning in particular within the region of Pakistan and across the globe in general.

  • November 1974- September 1975 part-time teacher at Shah Hussain Institute, principal Eric Cyprian. Teaching M. A. economics and B. A. English classes.
  • Summer 1976: Team leader and Area Supervisor for the "Study of Socio-economic effects of Rural Electrification in Pakistan", Principal Investigator, Dr. Raoof, then head of Anthropology Department at the Q.A.U. Data collection and analysis for the said survey.
  • January 1979-December 1986: Lecturer in History, B. Z. University, Multan. Duties include teaching, research, students' management, and departmental administrative tasks.

  • June 2000 to August 2000: Professor in History, B. Z. University, Multan. . Duties include teaching, research, research guidance, and sundry administrative tasks.
  • August 2000 to June 2001: Professor and Joint Director at the Taxila Institute of Asian Civilizations, Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad. Duties included supervision of Ph. D. scholars and administrative management of the institute.
  • June 29, 2001 : Professor in History, B.Z. University, Multan. Duties include teaching, research, research guidance, and sundry administrative tasks (Chairman 2001-03).
  • Retired October 2004, reemployed, Professor of History at International Islamic University, November 1, 2006-1st November 2008.
  • Presently working as Director, National Institute of Historical and Cultural Research, Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad since 11 February 2008.
